Some of North Carolina's most popular beaches are at Bald Head Island, Cape Hatteras National Seashore and Emerald Isle. The state has over 300 miles of beaches in total.
Bald Head Island has over 14 miles of beaches along with private beach rentals. A ferry ride is required to get to the island, and cars are not allowed.
The Cape Hatteras National Seashore runs for 72 miles and is known for its dunes. Two very tall lighthouses that are open to the public also offer panoramic views.
The Emerald Isle is between the Bogue Sound and the Atlantic Ocean and is known for mild, clear waters.
