Space Ibiza New York, Marquee, Cielo, Bembe and Mehanata are some popular nightclubs in New York City, as of 2015. Many of the nightclubs are themed with regional influences and have DJs or live bands that cater to the late night dance and nightclub crowd.
Space Ibiza New York imitates the sounds and vibrancy of the Mediterranean island that is its namesake. The club is a popular hangout for models, hipsters and celebrities as well as those wanting to be near them. Marquee is part of an international chain of nightclubs with sister clubs in Sydney, Australia, and Las Vegas. The club features international electronic DJ stars weekly and provides top scale entertainment production.
Cielo is a smaller club housed in a state-of-the-art space with the powerful Funktion One sound system in the Meatpacking District. Nightlife starts on Thursdays, and the crowd may have a few tourists. Bembe is a small bar located in Williamsburg that typically has an active scene earlier in the evening than most clubs. The venue is known for helpful bartenders and a tiny but packed basement dance floor.
Mehanata is a Bulgarian bar that is a true Gypsy party house. The Eastern European influence is stretched across two floors, including a vodka ice room.
