Three different railroads in Ohio are offering Polar Express-themed train rides during the 2015 holiday season. Railroads offering the tours are the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad in Independence and Akron, the Dennison Railroad Depot Museum in Dennison, and the LM&M Railroad in Lebanon.
These train ride packages are based on the book, "The Polar Express," by Chris Van Allsburg, which was adapted into a 2004 film with the same title. They recreate the book's plot, in which a child takes a train to the North Pole, where he meets Santa and his elves and receives a bell as a gift. The railroads require advance booking and advise riders to dress for the weather, since events associated with the train ride take place outdoors.
