Pennsylvania is located in the Middle Atlantic region of the United States. Bordering states include Ohio to the west, West Virginia to the west and south, Maryland to the south, Delaware to the south, New Jersey to the east and New York to the east and north.
Pennsylvania occupies nearly 45,000 land square miles. The economy largely centers on the more than 63,000 farms that produce a variety of crops. With roughly 1.5 million residents, Philadelphia is the largest city in the Keystone State; other major cities include Pittsburgh, Allentown, Erie and the capital city Harrisburg. One of the chief attractions is Gettysburg National Military Park, site of the pivotal Civil War battle.
