The Palestinian territories are located in Western Asia between Syria, Egypt and the Arabian Peninsula. The territories consist of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip along the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea. The state of Israel and the Palestinian territories abide in the region.
Palestine is the birthplace to both Christianity and Judaism and is sometimes known as The Holy Land, Land of Israel or The Promised Land. Throughout history, the region has seen its share of controversy over politics, culture and religion. Control of the region has changed hands many times, beginning with the Ancient Egyptians to modern Israelis and Palestinians as of 2014.
