There are two well-known Ocean City boardwalks in the United States: one is located in Ocean City, New Jersey, and the other one is in the town of Ocean City, Maryland. The one in New Jersey, built in 1880, is one of the most famous in the world.
New Jersey's Ocean City boardwalk is 2.5 miles long and runs the length of the beach facing the Atlantic Ocean, from St. James Place to 23rd Street. Its attractions include two family amusement parks, the Music Pier, a water park, miniature golf courses and many restaurants. The boardwalk is popular with local joggers, cyclists and tourists.
The lesser-known Ocean City boardwalk in Maryland, built in 1902, is also 2.5 miles long. A historical landmark, USA Today rates it as one of the "best boardwalks for food" in the country, while it appears on the National Geographic lists of the Top 10 Boardwalks to Visit.
