The national headquarters of National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, or NAACP, is located on 4805 Hope Drive in Baltimore, Maryland. There are over 2,000 NAACP units located nationwide. Other unit locations of the NAACP include Cape May County, New Jersey; Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Martinsburg, West Virginia.
The NAACP was formed on February 12, 1909, with an estimated 300,000 members. As of July 2015, the chairwoman of the NAACP is Roslyn Brock and the CEO/President is Cornell Williams Brook. The purpose of the formation of this national organization is to ensure every person of every race is treated fairly and to eliminate racial hatred. The NAACP holds many events for its members and actively works to make sure people are not discriminated against because of their race.
