To inquire about Indian Railway's train schedules, travelers can visit IndianRail.gov.in and click Reserved Train Schedule, use the SMS 139 service, or call 139. The Indian Railway's National Enquiry Service also features apps for free download to iOS, Android and Windows 8 mobile devices.
To enquire about train schedules on IndianRail.gov.in, a traveler needs to enter the train name or number. One way to find this information is to click Train Between Important Stations on the IndianRail.gov.in home page, enter the source and destination stations, and click Get Details. The search results list the names and numbers of all trains that travel between the two stations, or stop at them as part of a longer route, along with departure and arrival times, travel times and days. Click a train number and navigate to the bottom of the list to click Get Schedule to view the full schedule for the route.
To use the SMS 139 service to check a train timetable, text "TIME" followed by a space and the train number to 139. Scroll to the bottom of the Indian Railway's SMS information page for details of a free 139 railway enquiry app, or visit the National Train Enquiry System home page to view and download alternative railway information apps.
