Why Are Maps Important?

Maps are important to locate important places, study and compare different locations and even predict the weather. There are many different types of maps, including floor plans, topographical maps and weather maps.
The primary use of land maps is to help a person navigate to a landmark or desired destination. These maps had to be created by hand at first and were made during long and tedious journeys. With an accurate map, however, travelers can get to their destinations in the safest and fastest way possible. They can also be used to mark a location where valuables have been left, as in the case of a treasure map.
