Lake Erie is the 12th-largest lake in the world and is bordered by four states. New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan and the Canadian province of Ontario all share a border with Lake Erie.
Lake Erie is the southernmost of the five Great Lakes. Ohio shares the longest border with the lake, possessing a coastline that stretches approximately 312 miles. The majority of water flowing into the lake comes from the Detroit River, with New York's Niagara Falls forming its main outlet. Lake Erie is 210 feet deep at its deepest point and has a surface area of almost 10,000 miles.
