Oswego City School District lists the following major bodies of water in New York State: the Atlantic Ocean, Lake Ontario, Lake Erie, the Niagara River, Lake Champlain, the St. Lawrence River, the Hudson River, the Mohawk River and the Genessee River. New York is also home to the Finger Lakes.
Much of the U.S. border with Canada is made up of the Great Lakes, including two in New York State. The St. Lawrence River also marks a significant part of the border between New York and Canada. Lake Champlain and the Finger Lakes are popular tourist destinations with many attractions, including museums, art galleries, wineries and theatre companies.
