As of 2015, the Boardwalk at Ocean City, Maryland is 2.5 miles long. Built in 1902, the boardwalk began as a wooden walkway for hotel guests that was rolled up during high tide. It has restaurants, shops, a carousel, hotels and a pavilion for events.
The Ocean City Boardwalk, also known as Atlantic Avenue, runs right along the Atlantic Ocean. The Boardwalk's website offers visitors historical information and a walking map. There is also an information page that gives the rules of the boardwalk such as when pets are not permitted on the beach, rules for roller skate or roller blade use, and bicycle rental information.
