Liberia is in western Africa. Liberia lies between Sierra Leone and Cote d'Ivoire, and it also neighbors Guinea. Liberia is extensively bordered by the North Atlantic Ocean.
Liberia's geography mainly consists of level to rising and falling coastal plains, with some mountainous terrain in the northeast. Liberia covers a total area of about 43,000 square miles, slightly larger than the state of Tennessee. It is the 104th largest country in the world as of 2014. Liberia's coastline is approximately 360 miles long. The capital and largest city is Monrovia, located along the country's northern Atlantic coast. Liberia has an estimated population over 4 million people as of 2014.
