Hamilton Cemetery is significant to Ontario’s history because it contains 139 graves of Commonwealth service personnel, including 12 from World War II and 127 from World War I. It is the traditional burial site for the mayors of Hamilton. Mount Pleasant Cemetery is also marked as a National Historic site of Canada, as of 2000, due to the many monuments and the remarkable architecture.
