The Library of Congress offers a variety of historic railroad maps organized by geographic regions, subjects, titles, creators and specific railroad lines. Google Maps offers a current railroad map of the United States.
On the Library of Congress website, visitors can view railroad maps of all of North America divided into five geographic regions. The subject index divides maps by such topics as the Continental Railway and the Consolidated Southern Railway, while the creator index lists the railroads offers maps based on who funded the projects. The title index lists maps by their specific uses, and the railroad lines index lists tracks by the company that operated on them. By using Google Maps, travelers can see what railways take them to specific destinations.
