The Jordan River lies between the borders of Israel and Jordan, with Israel and Palestine located to its west and Jordan located to its east. The river is 156 miles long.
The source of the Jordan River is located on Mount Hermon in the Golan Heights, at 9,232 feet above sea level. From there it flows south through Lake Hula and the Sea of Galilee towards the Dead Sea. The river's mouth is located is located at the Dead Sea, where the elevation is 1,365 feet below sea level. Tributaries to the Jordan River include the Banias, Dan, Yarmouk, Zarqa, Hasbani and Iyon Stream Rivers.
