Ireland is a country that is located in Western Europe, and it's a little larger than West Virginia. The country is situated west of Great Britain. The first presence of humans on the island dates back to between 600 and 150 B.C. when Celtic tribes landed on the Island.
Throughout much of the country's history and until the mid-19th century, Ireland was rife with invasions, famine, emigration, starvation and guerrilla warfare, which resulted in a steady decline in its population. As of 2014, Ireland has one of the youngest populations in Europe and is recovering economically, which is partially influenced by direct investment from foreigners and US multi-nationals, according to the CIA.
