Established in 1953, Jack's Livery Stable offers the chance to drive an old-fashioned, horse-drawn buggy along the roadways of Mackinac Island State Park. One route follows Lake Shore Drive and then heads into the wooded areas of the park. Staff members provide buggy-driving lessons and then send guests off for their adventures. Traditional horseback riding is also an option.
Great Turtle Kayak Tours rents kayaks and paddleboards and provide lessons for either. They host guided tours that last anywhere from 30 minutes to six hours. The Sunrise and Sunset paddles to nearby Arch Rock or the waters off the Grand Hotel are good beginner trips. The more intense tour round Mackinac Island is for more seasoned paddlers in good physical shape.
Mackinaw Parasailing gives visitors a look at Mackinac Island from a different perspective. Participants take off and land on a special platform on the high-powered custom boat.
