Herschend Family Entertainment Corporation operates Stone Mountain Park attractions. In summer, visitors can watch the Stone Mountain Laser Show Spectacular, a laser and fireworks display that projects images onto the side of the mountain. As of 2015, the new Mountainvision show incorporates digital projectors, lasers, special effects and pyrotechnics. Visitors can use the Skyride to take a cable car to the top of the mountain.

In 1915 members of the new KKK ignited a flaming cross atop Stone Mountain, sparking a resurgence of the notorious group. Gutzon Borglum, the man who later carved Mount Rushmore, began work on a memorial featuring Robert E. Lee leading Confederate troops and KKK members across the mountain's summit, but he eventually abandoned this project with only Lee's head completed.

The Confederate Memorial Carving features three Confederate leaders of the Civil War, President Jefferson Davis and Generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson on horseback. It measures 1.57 acres and is the largest bas relief in the world.
