Participants are asked to post gas prices whenever they visit the pump. Gas prices change so rapidly and competition is so fierce that several different rates may be found within a few blocks. Prices are automatically deleted from the site when they are 36 hours old, which keeps the information current.

To find gas prices, click the Search Gas Prices tab on the upper left and input the city and state or just the ZIP code. Gas prices are listed low to high, based on the regular gas price. Users also have the option to narrow the search by selecting specific gas station brands or neighborhoods. Tabs are available for mid-grade, premium and diesel. Clicking on either of these tabs most likely makes the station list change, especially if choosing diesel.

The Report Gas Prices tab on the top left leads to an online form for reporting gas and diesel prices. Membership is required to post a price, but there is no membership fee. Price posters earn points toward daily contest entries. Prizes often include pre-paid gas cards.
