A substantial number of water parks in South Carolina are concentrated in the resort town of Myrtle Beach, including parks at the Dunes Village Resort, Caribbean Resort, the Captains Quarters, Coral Beach Resort and Compass Cove Resort. Most activities are geared to families, with age-appropriate sections for teens, young children and adults.
Dunes Village Resort in Myrtle Beach is popular with families because it has two indoor water parks open year-round. The park features a 250-foot lazy river and water slides sized for adults as well as children. The littlest ones can enjoy the Silly Submarine pool and the waterfall buckets, while teens have their own pool for swimming laps or playing water basketball or volleyball. Outdoor whirlpools let adults relax nearby while the kids play in the indoor parks.
The elaborate Compass Cove Resort water park has 22 water features, as of 2015, including both indoor and outdoor attractions. Three lazy rivers meander through the property, one of which is fully indoors. Five kiddie pools are packed with fun, with access to squirters, splash buckets and a mushroom waterfall, as well as a kid-sized submarine. Three of the outdoors pools are oceanfront, and seven hot tubs are located on the pool decks.
