The decision to offer weekly rates is often made by individual hotel management, but some chains such as Extended Stay America and Staybridge Suites tailor their business at all locations to weekly or monthly stays. Many Motel 6 locations also offer a weekly rate.
The chains that specialize in weekly stays are usually mid-scale to upscale properties catering mostly to business travelers. Chains that have locations in cities throughout the United States include Extended Stay, Staybridge, Residence Inn by Marriott, Hawthorne Suites by Wyndham and Candlewood Suites. Some similar chains that currently are more regional are Hyatt House, Grandstay Residential Suites and TowneHouse Suites.
There are some economy chains that specialize in weekly stays scattered throughout the U.S. These include Studio 6, Value Place, InTown Suites, Suburban and Crossland. In addition to their Studio 6 properties, many regular Motel 6 locations offer a discounted weekly rate. This rate is usually posted in the lobby along with their current daily rates.
Other hotel chains may individually choose to offer weekly rates. This is often done seasonally in areas that have one or two heavy tourism seasons and low occupancy the rest of the year. Hotels may only offer weekly rates during the slower seasons.
