Examples of hotels that offer in-room kitchens include Candlewood Suites, Fairfield Inn, Residence Inn and Extended Stay America. These are chain properties that have outlets along Interstates and state roadways, near tourist attractions, at airports and in downtown cores.
Candlewood Suites is part of the Intercontinental Hotels Group, which also owns Holiday Inn. The all-suite properties offer studio and one-bedroom units with fully equipped kitchens, dining areas and business work stations. The Candlewood Cupboard store, located on-site, offers grocery basics and snacks. Many Candlewood locations feature a communal outdoor gazebo grill, available to all guests. Some locations are pet friendly.
Fairfield Inn is a Marriott product and it features budget friendly studio and one-bedroom units with either kitchenettes or full kitchens. Standard hotel rooms are also offered, some with connecting doors to a kitchenette unit, making them perfect for families traveling together. Swimming pools are available at some locations. Fairfield Inn is a smoke-free property.
Residence Inn is another Marriott brand. Some of these properties, such as the one near Cal Expo in Sacramento, California, look more like condo complexes than hotels. Also a smoke-free hotel, the rooms offer luxury bedding and amenities as well as a full kitchen. Their largest unit is a two-bedroom suite, which sleeps up to five. Pets are welcome here as well, with a non-refundable fee.
Extended Stay America is designed for longer stays. The all-studio properties have full kitchens, wireless Internet included in the rate and a daily grab-and-go breakfast. Many Extended Stay properties have pools, fitness rooms and are pet-friendly. As of 2015, 632 locations are available nationwide.
