Where Is Holland Located?

Holland is located in western Europe. Holland, part of the Netherlands, sits next to Germany, the United Kingdom and Belgium.

Holland is bordered by the North Sea. It is also home to the western entrance into Europe. Nearly 25 percent of Holland is below sea level. Once an independent country, it gave up its independence in the 16th century, and it officially became part of the Netherlands.

Holland was once divided into two main parts, South Holland and North Holland. The biggest differences between the two were the religions and the cultures. Today, Holland is more united, and it is considered a province of the Netherlands.
