Hearst Castle tours are guided tours of the former residence of William Randolph Hearst, named Hearst Castle. The building is now a museum in San Simeon, California, as of 2016, that is dedicated to the media magnate's personal collection of fine art and antiques.
The museum offer six tour types: Grand Rooms Tour, Upstairs Suites Tour, Cottage and Kitchen Tour, and an Evening Tour, as well as two handicap-accessible tours. Tours are 60 minutes and, as of 2016, cost $25 for adults and $12 for children. The fee includes a viewing of “Building the Dream” at Hearst Castle Theater. Visitors are strongly advised to make reservations beforehand.
The Grand Rooms Tour is suggested for first-time visitors. It includes the Assembly Room, Refectory, Billiard Room, Theater. Outdoors, the Gardens, Neptune Pool and Roman Pool.
The Upstairs Suite Tour features a 3/4-mile route that consists of approximately 332 stairs. Areas visited include the Doge’s Suite, Library, The Gothic Suite, Duplex Bedrooms and the Celestial Suite. The Gardens, Neptune Pool and Roman Pool are also part of the tour.
The Cottages and Kitchen Tour includes the Wine Cellar, House B (Casa del Monte), House A (Casa del Mar) and the Kitchen. The outdoor area is also included in the tour.
