The Smithsonian museum complex in Washington includes several interesting museums with free admission, such as the Air and Space Museum, the Natural History Museum and the American Indian Museum. Many of the Smithsonian museums are within reasonable walking distance of each other. Visitors can click Visit at the top of the SI.Edu website to view maps and directions to help plan their itineraries and to read information about opening hours and current exhibitions. There is also a section headed "Visiting With Kids" that highlights activities of interest to the younger age group, such as flight and ride simulators at the Air and Space Museum.
The Baltimore Museum of Art includes the world's largest collection of Henri Matisse paintings, while the Indianapolis Museum of Art's collections include works by Georges Suerat, Paul Gaugin and J.M.W.Turner. The Getty Center, which is part of the J.Paul Getty Museum, houses works of art that date back to the Middle Ages. The SteniSphere at NASA in Bay St.Louis, Mississippi, offers free tours and shows that include spacecraft viewings, mock shuttle engine firings and virtual experiences of the International Space Station.
