Some of the popular beaches on Hilton Head include Coligny Beach, Folly Field Beach Park, Driessen Beach Park, Mitchelville Freedom Park Beach and Singleton Beach. In total, there are about 14 miles of beach on the island. Rules and life guard staffing vary from beach to beach, but alcoholic beverages are never allowed on any.
The Sandbox Interactive Children's Museum is home to a variety of exhibits and programs, many of which are interactive. The Loggerhead Sandcastle allows children to move sea creatures around a magnetic aquarium. Charlie's Perfect Playplace is a gated play area designed for infants and toddlers, and the Learner's Loft lets kids put on a puppet theater, build with Legos or set up a Thomas the Tank Engine train set.
The Coastal Discovery Museum is a 68-acre property with trails, gardens and a butterfly enclosure among other activities. There is also a Discovery House with various exhibits, and special events are also regularly held on the property.Learn more about Geography
