The Ocala National Forest is located on 383,000 acres outside of Ocala. It is the southernmost forest in the continental United States and the location of the largest contiguous sand pine scrub forest on Earth. The forest has four natural springs: Silver Glen Springs, Juniper Springs, Salt Springs and Alexander Springs. Ocala National Forest also has four wilderness areas: Juniper Prairie Wilderness, Alexander Springs Wilderness, Little Lake George Wilderness and Billies Bay Wilderness. The Florida Black Bear Festival is held each year outside the forest. Visitors can also enjoy fishing, hiking, camping and horseback riding throughout the year.
