The Pikes Peak Cog Railway, the Georgetown Loop Railroad and the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad are some of Colorado's best scenic train trips, according to the Huffington Post. The state offers 13 different scenic railways, according to the Colorado Tourism Office.
The Pikes Peak Cog Railway offers mountain scenery on the way to the summit of Pike's Peak, 14,000 feet above sea level. Less than an hour from Denver, the Georgetown Loop Railroad takes passengers on a corkscrew route between two mining towns, traversing a canyon with the help of four bridges. The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad features wilderness and canyon scenery as it takes guests through Animas Gorge and the San Juan National Forest.
