Several public golf courses exist in and near Atlanta. Ashton Hills Golf Club (formerly Indian Creek Golf Club) is about 30 minutes outside of the city limits. Georgia Golf News voted this golf course Atlanta's Best New Course in 1997. Designer Desmond Muirhead gave the park its unique look. Stone Mountain is a scenic course in a natural setting with Georgia pines and a large lake.
Baseball's Atlanta Braves play on a regular basis from the spring to the fall. Fishing hobbyists have several fishing options in the area. Stone Mountain Lake is home to bass, carp, crappie, catfish and bream, and fishing is allowed on the premises from 6 a.m. until midnight. Boaters can go on the water during the day.
Atlanta has several places for music lovers. The world-famous Atlanta Symphony Orchestra has regular classical and popular music concerts during its concert season.
