Spirit Airlines is a budget airline offering flights throughout the United States, Canada, the Caribbean and Latin America. Its main operating airports are at Fort Lauderdale, Chicago, Detroit, Dallas and Las Vegas. Spirit.com details the range of flights offered by Spirit Airlines and explains the airline's Bare Fares pricing policy.
The airline offers a no-frills Bare Fare ticket for passengers who are willing to print out their boarding tickets at home, have their seats assigned at check-in, and travel with one small item of personal baggage. The item of carry-on baggage included in the Bare Fare, must be able to fit in the smaller size box and measure no larger than 16 inches by 14 inches by 12 inches. Passengers who travel with additional carry-on or checked-in baggage must pay extra for this service.
Passengers also pay additional charges for a range of options including having their boarding passes printed for them at the airport, seat selection and all on-board drinks and snacks. Friends and families wishing to sit together and individuals who prefer a window or aisle seat can pay extra to select specific seats. Passengers can also pay to reserve a Spirit Airlines Big Front Seat that is wider and has extra legroom.
Passengers opting for additional baggage and Big Front Seat selection pay lower charges if they make the payment during the booking process. Prices can more than double if paid at the airport.
