What Are Some Ferries From Bridgeport, Connecticut?

A fleet of three ferries travels back and forth between Bridgeport and Port Jefferson on Long Island by way of the Long Island Sound. Ferry service is provided by the Bridgeport & Port Jefferson Ferry Company and runs daily.

The ferries have an hourly departure from each port most weekdays, starting at 6 a.m. and concluding at 9 p.m. On weekends, service runs until 10 p.m., and some of the departure times are slightly different, though there is still one departure each hour. The ferry also runs on holidays, adopting a weekend schedule for most holidays, though early morning departures may be more limited on these days. The trip normally takes about an hour and 15 minutes.

Reservations for the ferry can be made in advance and are recommended on weekends. Reservations can be made up to two hours in advance. Vehicles can also be brought across on the ferry, but must be in line at least 15 minutes prior to boarding. Some features of the ferry include both indoor and outdoor seating, various concessions and a lounge for passengers age 21 and older. Freight can also be shipped, but only on the noon departure each day, and packages cannot exceed 100 pounds.
