The Nantahala Gorge Excursion is a 44-mile trip to the Nantahala Gorge via tracks running along the Little Tennessee and Nantahala Rivers and crossing Fontana Lake. The Tuckasegee River Excursion, at 32 miles long, explores the landscape and the old railroad towns along the Tuckasegee River.
Seasonal sights along the way on both trips include parts of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the Nantahala National Forests. The parks are home to 125 varieties of trees, more than 1,000 types of flowering plants, 200 species of birds and over 100 varieties of fish and other animals.
Specialty rides include the adults-only Carolina Shine Moonshine Experience, serving meals and real moonshine. Seasonal rides include the Polar Express during the Christmas season and the Peanuts Pumpkin Patch Express in October. The family-friendly Dinosaur Train is a special event during the summer.
