BWI airport features four domestic concourses, one international concourse, 68 jet gates and five commuter aircraft gates. The facility spans over 45 acres. Major domestic airlines operating out of BWI as of 2015 include Southwest, Delta, Jet Blue, United and American Airlines. Southwest Airlines was by far the largest operator at BWI in 2014, with over 70 percent of flights. International airlines serving BWI as of 2015 include British Airways, Air Canada and Norwegian Air.
As of 2015, BWI airport averaged over 630 scheduled domestic passenger flights, 24 international passenger flights and ten cargo flights per day. In 2014, over 22 million commercial passengers traveled through BWI airport. The top destination and origin cities for flights to and from BWI in 2014 were Las Vegas, Atlanta, Boston, Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale.
The airport has an observation gallery and children's play area that is open the public. It is located between Concourses B and C on the upper level. Visitors can watch airplanes through large windows and browse aviation museum and art gallery exhibits.Learn more about Geography
