Events occurring in Florida in 2015 include the Miami Book Fair International, Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, Sand Art Trio and Sarasota Chalk Festival. Due to Florida's warm weather, many events are held outdoors year-round.
The Miami Book Fair International is held at the Miami Dade College in mid-November each year, with 2015's event running from November 15 to 22. Authors and high-profile celebrities attend the fair to meet and greet fans, sign books and take photographs. Scheduled guests for the 2015 fair include Tom Brokaw, Mitch Albom, David Axelrod, Patti Smith and Jane Smiley.
The 2015 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, held November 5 to 9, offers tours of super yachts, sailing yachts, catamarans, cabin cruisers and inflatables, as well as water activities, including paddleboarding and hovercrafts. VIP packages are also available at the show and include all-day access to an air conditioned lounge, gourmet food, concierge service and a premium open bar.
A festival of sand art competitions known as Sand Art Trio, located on Fort Myers Beach, Key West and Siesta Key, attracts sand sculpting artists from around the world. In 2015, the events run from November 13 through 29. Along with sand art, the Sarasota Chalk Festival brings hundreds of artists who use nothing but pavement and pastel chalk to create oversized, three-dimensional, optical illusion art. The Sarasota Chalk Festival is held from November 9 through 16 and is close to the sand art competition in Siesta Key.
