Determine Amtrak train fares by performing a ticket search through Amtrak.com, as of April 2015. Amtrak offers Saver, Value, Flexible and Premium tickets, but available options vary based on the train.
Visit the Amtrak home page, and select One Way or Round Trip under the Tickets tab. Enter your departure city under From and your destination under To, or click the Find a Station link to view all Amtrak stations. Choose a departure date and time, and enter how many passengers are traveling. Passengers are classified as adults, seniors, children or infants. Enter a promo code if you have one, and click Find Trains.
The cheapest fares are Saver fares. This type of fare isn't available on all trains. If the fare is canceled before the trip, the amount is credited to an eVoucher that can be used on a future trip. Value fares are more expensive than Saver fares. Value fares can be canceled 24 hours or more before the trip for a full refund. Flexible fares are more expensive than Value fares. Flexible fares can be canceled at any time before the trip for a full refund. Premium fares are the most expensive option. These fares include all upgrade services. Refunds vary based on when the fare is canceled and whether it is a room or seat reservation.
