The Hip Strip in Montego Bay, Jamaica, officially known as Gloucester Avenue, is home to restaurants, boutique shops and water sports vendors offering services from banana boat rides to snorkeling excursions. More well-known tourist hot spots include the Margaritaville Caribbean Bar and Grill, the Blue Beat Jazz & Blues Bar and the Aquasol Theme Park. Next to the Hip Strip is Doctor's Cave Beach Club.
The Margaritaville Caribbean Bar and Grill is part of a chain of restaurants with a youthful vibe, island-inspired food and drink and plenty of activities to keep guests entertained. The Montego Bay Hip Strip locale features a 120-foot water slide from the rooftop terrace. At night the terrace turns into an outdoor dance floor.
The Blue Beat Jazz & Blues Bar is the first martini bar to open in Montego Bay devoted to Caribbean-influenced jazz and blues. Like a typical martini bar, the setting is modern, upscale and refined, which is a contrast to the live music. The bar also serves Asian-Caribbean fusion cuisine.
The Aquasol Theme Park, sometimes spelled "Aqua Sol," is a family-friendly beach offering beach volleyball, tennis courts, water sports and plenty of sand for sunbathing. A go-cart racetrack is also on site.
Doctor's Cave Beach Club, also known as Doctor's Cave Bathing Club, was founded in 1906. It originally featured a cave, but a hurricane washed it away. Doctor's is home to the Groovy Grouper Beach Bar and Grill. Beachgoers may pay a daily rate for beach access or purchase a yearly membership.
