As of 2015, flights from Sanford, Florida, serve cities along the eastern seaboard, such as Bangor, Maine, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Allegiant Air only flies non-stop flights. To achieve this, the carrier has divided the country virtually in the middle, with hubs on both the east and west coasts. Flights from either side don't go beyond the Midwest. It is possible to fly from coast to coast, but it requires purchasing two airline tickets and coordinating the dates. A ticketing search engine and interactive route map on the airline's website, AllegiantAir.com, are available.
As an example, flying from Los Angeles, California, to Orlando/Sanford requires a ticket to Fargo, North Dakota, and another ticket from Fargo to Orlando/Sanford. Since Allegiant does not have daily flights to either locale, this might involve an overnight stay. Some of Allegiant's flights operate seasonally.
The Orlando/Sanford hub is close to Disney World and to Port Canaveral, one of Florida's busiest cruise ports. It is also a connection point for flights to the Caribbean, Canada, Europe and other international destinations.Learn more about Geography
