As the nature of Queen land, or public land, can change year to year in Alberta, the Alberta Environment and Parks department keeps an updated PDF on their website dictating where current Queen land is located.
Crown land is registered under the Queen of England and is represented by the current Prime Minister of Alberta. In essence, the land is under government control until it is sold or transferred using specific legislation.
Many of these public areas have specific Public Land Use Zone designations that determine the types of activities one can do. For example, one zone near a lake may allow fishing but not allow hunting of the local wildlife.
