The Crayola Factory, or Crayola Experience, in Easton, Pennsylvania, is a family attraction and the site of the original manufacture of Crayola crayons. Refurbished in 2013, the Crayola Experience offers a range of multimedia activities for children, including transforming their image into a coloring page, animating 4-D art and creating their own Crayola crayon, complete with its own wrapping and color name. The Crayola Experience is open year round and can be booked for special events, private parties and corporate meetings.
The Crayola Experience also features a live show, taking audiences through the process of crayon manufacture, a process that remains essentially the same as it was in 1903. Nowadays, as the show informs audiences, crayons also undergo X-ray and metal detection testing to ensure their safety.
Among the other attractions for visitors to the Crayola Experience are the Color Playground, a large play area where children can also draw over the floors and structures; the Meltdown workshop, where children melt crayons to create an image; and Toddler Town, where younger children can enjoy time with a light-up colored pegboard, a giant ball maze and fun mirrors.
As well as the opportunity to create a personalized crayon, visitors can also create their own marker pens by selecting two colors and observing them merge for the marker color.
