Dallas was founded in 1841 by a lawyer, originally from Tennessee, named John Neely Bryan. He accidentally wandered upon the land on which modern Dallas is located and was so impressed that he returned to found a new town.
The city of Dallas is home to five professional sports teams: the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Stars, Dallas Mavericks, FC Dallas and Texas Rangers. Dallas is the birthplace of multiple inventions, including the frozen margarita machine and the integrated-circuit computer chip, later known as the microchip.
