Canada is the country that lies east of Alaska. Most of Alaska lies west of Canada's Yukon Territory, but parts of the state lie west of the province of British Columbia.
To the north of the state lies the Arctic Ocean, and to the west is the Bering Sea. The Gulf of Alaska and the Pacific Ocean are south of the state. Alaska is the northernmost state in the United States and the one that reaches farthest west as well. It is also the easternmost state, because part of the Aleutian Islands extend beyond the 180-degree line of longitude, putting that area of the state in the Eastern Hemisphere.
