Jordan is located in the Middle East, on the western portion of the continent of Asia. The country borders Israel, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Palestine and the Red Sea. It is approximately 55,515 square miles in area, and the River Jordan runs through it.
The population of Jordan is approximately 7,930,491 people, as of 2015. In recent years, the population has grown due to an increased number of Syrian refugees. A majority of the population is Sunni Muslim, the official religion of the country. Arabic is the official language of Jordan, though many members of the upper and middle classes understand and speak English.
