The Gobi Desert spans two countries, China and Mongolia. It is in the northern part of China and the southern portion of Mongolia. Due to windy conditions, the desert floor is mostly rock, not sand.

Temperatures in the Gobi Desert vary greatly based on the season. In the winter, they can reach temperatures as low as 40 degrees Fahrenheit. In the summer, temperatures can reach 122 degrees Fahrenheit.

The first fossilized dinosaur egg was found in the Gobi Desert. The Gobi Desert is the fifth-largest desert in the world, and it continues to expand, destroying valuable grassland in the process.
