India is surrounded by a total of six countries in its South Asian location, including Pakistan, Burma, China, Nepal, Bangladesh and Bhutan. These countries mostly border India in northern directions, as the east, west and south are largely encompassed by water.
There are three bodies of water bordering India: the Arabian Sea to the west, the Bay of Bengal to the east and the Laccadive Sea to the north. India comprises over 8,600 miles of land. Its coastline is fewer than 4,400 miles long, which is less than the length of soil shared with other nations. The largest bordering country of India is China.
