The Republic of South Africa is itself a country, with two other countries located within its borders. They are Lesotho and Swaziland.
South Africa covers the southern tip of the African continent, with the South Atlantic Ocean to its west and Indian Ocean to its east. The Great Escarpment, a high-level plateau, runs along the southern and eastern sides of the country. The plateau is part of Table Mountain, a famous tourist attraction near the city of Cape Town. Cape Town, a diverse and cosmopolitan city, attracts tourists from all over the world for its beautiful scenery and modern vibe.
The tiny kingdom of Lesotho (pronounced li-SOO-too) is completely surrounded by South Africa, with The Great Escarpment creating part of its border. Farther to the east is the slightly larger country of Swaziland, which is bordered almost entirely by South Africa. South Africa, Lesotho, and Swaziland have 11 official languages, of which English and Afrikaans are most spoken.
