The countries of Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda border Lake Victoria. Lake Victoria comprises a total area of 26,600 square miles. It is the largest lake in Africa and the world's largest tropical lake, in addition to being the second-largest freshwater lake in the world, next to Lake Superior.
Lake Victoria has a volume of 660 cubic miles, receiving much of its mass naturally from precipitation. This lake has a maximum length of 209 miles and a maximum width of 160 miles. Lake Victoria is a fairly shallow lake, reaching a maximum depth of 276 feet and an average depth of approximately 70 feet. The lake's shoreline exceeds 2,000 miles.
