Visit the AreaVibes.com home page, and click on Cost of Living Calculator under the Livability Tools heading. Enter two cities into the calculator, select Cost of living comparison in the drop down menu and click Compare. Results list how much more or less expensive the second city is than the first, along with how much money in the second city compares to $50,000 in the first. The calculator includes comparisons for overall cost, transportation, health care, and goods and services. Groceries, housing and utilities are also included as categories and receive more detailed breakdowns.

AreaVibes.com also provides city comparison and crime comparison options. City comparison provides an overall comparison of both cities based on all available factors, including cost of living and crime.

Visit the Money.CNN.com home page, and place the cursor over Personal Finance. On the drop down menu that appears, click on Calculators. Under the Saving and Spending heading, click on Cost of living: How far will my salary go?

Select your state and city, and another state and city from drop down menus, and then set your current salary on the slider. The results list the comparable salary in the other city. They also show price differences for groceries, housing, utilities, transportation and health care.
