Asia and Australia are the only two continents located entirely in the Eastern Hemisphere. Most of Africa and Europe, and approximately half of Antarctica, also lie in the Eastern Hemisphere.

The earth is divided into four hemispheres. The Northern and Southern Hemispheres are divided by the Equator, the imaginary line the divides the earth horizontally. The Western and Eastern Hemispheres are separated by an imaginary line that divides the earth vertically, called the Prime Meridian. Eight countries (the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Algeria, Burkino Faso, Ghana and Mali) are located partially in the Eastern Hemisphere and partially in the Western Hemisphere.
