According to the World Atlas, Mexico is found on the continent of North America. To its north, Mexico shares a 1,952-mile border with the United States of America, and, to its south, it has a 155-mile border with Belize and a 598-mile border with Guatemala.
Mexico also touches numerous bodies of water. In between Baja California, a peninsula that begins just south of the U.S. state of California, and the Mexican mainland's western coast lies the Gulf of California. The Pacific Ocean borders the remainder of the country's western side. To the east, the country has coastline on the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. Some geographers place parts of Mexico in Central America, but Central America is a region of North America, not a continent in itself.
